Follow your Passion, you are Not Born with Passion it’s a choice!

A word passion is used for everything these days. “Follow your passion”, “Live your dreams”, “Passion will make your life”, “What’s your passion”, “Are you passionate enough to follow through” and it’s endless. No one is born with a passion. Everything in life is learned.

Passion is one of those words that people use often without really understanding the original meaning of the word. When most people refer to "passion", they use it to mean strong emotions reflecting an intense desire or boundless enthusiasm.

I wasn’t born with my passion. All the kids that know what they want to do in life is not their passion. It’s taught! The parents, teachers, uncles, aunts or whomever else taught them. No one has ever woken up one day and said “my passion is electricity; I will do electricity from now on”! It doesn’t work like that.

Passion doesn’t just appear to one. Passion is not something that one can courage it out from a thin air. The way one gets passionate about something is through hard work only. Do you think Shakespeare knew his passion? No. He worked, and worked, and worked and worked… until his plays were liked. Do you think Rafael Nadal was born with a passion for tennis? No, he was at a tennis court since he was 5 or 6 years old and played it almost every day. Do you think this is passion?

Next time you hear about passion I suggest you switch it off because it’s all marketing. You are not born with a passion. Everyone is born like a white canvas. Everything one picks up along the way is learning and it is what they become from the learning. Give a kid a tennis racket and lessons that kid will become a Rafael Nadal. Give a kid a paint brush and they’ll become the next Picasso. Give a kid dance lessons that kid will become a professional dancer. Give a kid a science book and they’ll become a scientist. So called “passion” is chosen and only hard work gets anyone to the top.
