What does the quote “Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant” mean?

Life is unjust and unfair if your perception is focused only on the outcomes of your efforts. To change that perception, one must need to understand the concept of efforts and outcomes.

Our daily actions define us and it charts the path of our progress. The small act that we do day in and day out adds up to make a big impact on our growth.

The unpleasant thing about this is that others perceive us based on our outcomes. We are judged based on the results we produce and not the actions we put in. The limelight that success enjoys has put a dark spot-on failure.

Society does not reward for trying but only for winning.

However harsh may it sound but this is the reality and that reality has forced us to change our perception of winning and losing. That is the reason, we want to win in our every act. We look for solid outcomes from our every effort. We want instant results for our minutest actions. When results fail to match our expectations, we cave in to call it quits. This might be the reason why many prefer mediocrity over doing something more challenging.

Fear of losing out and being called out by society because of that failure has forced many to abandon their dream and choose the path chosen by society.

So, what is the thing that many miss out on while acting on their dreams?

PATIENCE!

Yes, you heard it right. Great things take time. The effort you put in today might not be visible in the result column today, but it is adding up for sure to reflect collectively in that result column after some time.

Just believe in the process. Give your 100% & optimize, but don’t give up.

The words of Robert Louis Stevenson offer a perfect analogy for this situation.

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.

Acting on your dreams every day is like planting seeds every day. You won’t see them ready for harvest in a moment. It takes time for that seed to grow and be ripe for harvest. You might hate to face it that your current action is inapt to provide you instant results, but sometimes it is not the way we want but the way it is supposed to happen.

If you focus on planting with perfection by carefully choosing the seeds and the fertile soil to plant those seeds, the harvest will take care of itself. When you focus too much on the harvest, you will miss out on the opportunities to improvise the planting.

It will take time to reap your harvest and when we ingrain this wisdom in our heart, outcomes will never deter our zeal to prevail.

Patience is the key to success. Some confuse waiting with patience. Is Patience Just Like a Waiting Game or Something More Than That?

In accordance with the previous analogy, it is like planting seeds and not accepting that seed to grow up, in an instant, to be ready for harvest. Patience gives you the perspective of the long-term game and will inspire you to work on your dreams & optimize the approach when needed.

Pursue your Dream with Patience. Do not measure your creative effort by the results that it yields in moments but adapt the virtue of patience and believe that your efforts will combine one day to make a positive impact on your creative journey.
